*Martyr Wafaa Jarrar was subjected to a duplicated crime since the moment of her arrest*

*The Commission and the Club holds the occupation fully accountable for her martyrdom*

August 5, 2024

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, the Palestinian Society Prisoner’s Club , the Captive Movement in prisons and liberated detainees in Palestine and abroad mourn the former detainee Wafaa Jarrar, 50, from Jenin, the wife of detainee Abduljabbar Jarrar, who is sentenced to administrative detention. She died today’s morning in Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, due to serious injury she had during arrest on May 21, 2024.

The Commission and the Prisoner’s Club confirmed in a joint statement that the occupation has committed a duplicated crime against martyr Jarrar, represented in the brutal arrest from her house, abuse and torture her, subjecting her to a severe injury which led to the amputation of her legs at Affula Hospital. She was turned to administrative detention for four months but released on May 30, 2024. Her cause is a witness on the continuous criminality of the occupation within the ongoing extermination against our people in Gaza.

The commission and the club stated that the occupation has not yet handed over the amputated legs of the martyr Jarrar for burial according to Islamic law. A lawyer had submitted a request to retrieve her amputated legs after receiving a verbal response from a doctor at Affula Hospital that the limbs had been disposed of. This constituted a new violation added to the compounded crime committed against her.

The occupation also did not respond to the request of obtaining her medical reports, as another request has been submitted to clarify what was happened on May 27, 2024, the day of amputation, which was conducted after the consent of her family. It was later found that another amputation above the knee was performed without the family's consent, as she was under anesthesia. This violation is added to the series of crimes committed against her.

The Commission and the club confirmed that the martyrdom of Jarrar came in the most difficult times for detainees in Israeli prisons, who are subjected to another kind of genocide due to the crimes of torture, humiliation, starvation and collective isolation.

The Commission and the Club held the occupation fully responsible for the martyrdom of Jarrar and confirmed that she was subjected to a series of crimes, and she’s among tens of detainees who had injuries since the war of extermination, asserting that they will follow up her case on a legal basis.

Persistence in the policy of escalation and deprivation against detainees in occupation prisons

August 7, 2024

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs stated that 9000 detainees are currently held in the Israeli occupation prisons, facing unprecedented abusive and vindictive measures since months, and subjected to all forms of torture and systematic violence that has turned their lives into hell.

The Commission documented, through lawyers’ visits to Itzion and Megiddo prisons, several practices and criminal breaches implemented against detainees, in an attempt to destroy detainees’ morales, which violates all international agreements and conventions.

The Commission pointed out that sanctions against detainees held in Itzion and Megiddo prisoners, applied to all prisons, are represented in the closure of sections in all prisons, confiscation of electrical appliances, water and power cut off, lack of blankets and clothes, poor food in quantity and quality. Moreover, the IPS intended to cancel lawyers’ visits under the claim of the presence of a state of emergency.
Detainees complained about storming their sections, the high temperature and lack of fans. All these measures created difficult conditions for detainees, as they are held in overcrowded rooms and do not have clean supplies. Furthermore, they are not allowed to bathe on a regular basis, which led to the spread of dermatologic diseases.

The Commission called on international human rights organizations to take their necessary role, in the light of the escalation in crimes against detainees in Israeli prisons.

*Heartbreaking testimonies of pain and suffering for Gaza detainees held in Ofer prison*

*August 4, 2024*

The lawyer of the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs managed to visit three of Gaza detainees held in Ofer prison last week, who recounted with overwhelming pain and suffering the inhumane treatment they experienced by the Israeli jailers and soldiers.

The lawyer revealed the violations committed against detainees, especially during the initial months of war, through a visit to detainees Mohammad Jamous, 44, detained since last March, the administrative detainee Fadi Ayyad,39, and Fadi Hqaidi, 38.

They testified the following: “We have been exposed to actual fascism, as we were stripped of our clothes, intensively beaten , tortured and assaulted. They shackled our hands and feet, and blindfolded our eyes. We were turned into prey to these monsters, who enjoyed our hunger, thirst, screams and illnesses. We still do not believe that we are still alive“.

Detainees stated: “We speak on the behalf of ourselves, but this is the voice of all Gaza detainees who were detained after October 7. The death journey begins at the first moment of arrest, passing through transportation in military vehicles, in which they humiliate and deny our humanity with torture and assault, arriving at prison, where we wished to die for what we have seen of the soldiers hatred. They abuse us with different methods, they broke our bones and left us bleeding from the heads and all body parts. They transferred us to hospitals, in which a new series of murder began, to the extent that we could not comprehend what is happening “.

They added: “Since our detention, we spent most of the time sitting on our feet or lying on the stomach. We don’t have the right to express our pain regardless of the torture we are subjected to. They used dogs to terrify and attack us, in addition to pepper spray and tear gas that was sprayed in our rooms without any reason. We don’t exaggerate when we say that the majority of Gaza detainees have fainted several times due to intense beat. We witnessed the martyrdom of many detainees , such as detainee Islam Sarsawi, who died due to beat and torture”.

Detainees concluded: “Today, all of us are sick, our bodies are exhausted, we became victims of diseases, injuries and torture. We do not receive any treatment or medicine, but despite the miserable conditions, we still have hope to return alive to our families. We challenge this fatal reality with all its details to embrace our parents, wives and children “.

🔴 The lawyer of the commission visited detainee Ahmad Syajat, from Jenin, who is detained since 2021. He was subjected to fierce torture in the past few months, which led to loss of his upper and lower teeth, where he became unable to eat and lost 20 kgs, besides, he did not receive any medical treatment.

🔴 The lawyer also visited detainee Rami Hsais from Jenin, detained since a year. He suffers from a complicated dermatologic disease, in addition to severe pain in his back. He wasn’t allowed to go to the hospital, and he lost 20 kgs.

The police officers subordinated to the prison’s administration were present near the detainee during their conversation, repeatedly instructing him to raise his voice so they could hear what he was saying.

🔴 The lawyer confirmed that the general conditions in Megiddo prison remain unchanged, as the food is poor, detainees sleep hungry, they are ill treated and exposed to intense beat, assaults, medical neglect, lack in clothes and blankets and exposed to other sanitations, deprivation and other abusive measures that were imposed on them since October 7.
