The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated today, that jailers at the clinic of Ramla prison have attacked the detainee Ghadanfar Abu Atwan, who is on hunger strike since 36 days, over the past three days by beating and humiliation.
The Commission pointed out that the Prisons' Service has transferred Abu Atwan from Ohelekdar prison to the clinic of Ramla prison last Thursday. Jailers attacked him in his room at the first day of transfer and beat him in a brutal way all over his body.
In response, the detainee Abu Atwan burned his bed mattress inside his room, then jailers opened fire extinguisher toward him to make him feel suffocated. They took him to the hospital and returned him to prison again. Jailers wanted to inspect him while being naked, but he refused and jailers attacked him again by beating, hanging and keeping him naked for 12 hours.
The Commission stated that the detainee has been tried inside the prison and sentenced to solitary confinement for one week.
The detainee Abu Atwan suffers from leanness and several pains all over his body due to his strike.
Recently, he started to have respiratory problems, headache and pain in the kidney due to ignoring his health conditions and refusing his just demands of ending his administrative detention.
The occupation's court of Ofer decided to convict the detainee Marwan Maadi (60 years) from Jifna/ Ramallah and raised his sentence from 8 years to 22 years of imprisonment, with a fine of 50.000 NIS.
He has been arrested in 2012 after charging him of participating in killing two Israeli soldiers at Ramallah Police Station in 2000, and the court then decided to acquit him from the charge of deliberate murder and accused him of attacking a soldier. Based on that, they sentenced him to 8 years.
After pressure by media and political levels, the prosecution submitted an appeal to the Israeli military court, which assigned the session on May 2020.
The court of appeal decided to convict the detainee with deliberate murder of one soldier and attacking another one, noting that the indictment did not contain anything about the second soldier.
After this unfair sentence of rising the years of imprisonment and imposing the fine, a lawyer from the Commission of Detainees' Affairs submitted an appeal against the rule of the military appeal court and a petition to the Israeli Supreme Court to reconsider the case, because the rule of the military appeal court has legal errors which may affect the case.
The commission condemned the criminal policy of the occupation in issuing high sentences and the imposition of high fines against the Palestinian people. The commission also pointed out that the Israeli judicial system works according to the orders of the Israeli intelligence service, which tries to inflict punishments and damages against the Palestinians.
The Commission stated in its documented statistics that the arrest cases among Palestinians since 1967 were about (1.000.000), including (17.000) cases against girls, women and mothers, and (50.000) cases against children. It is confirmed that the arrest process is accompanied with torture, where all those who experienced detention were subjected to physical or psychological torture and harsh treatment.
Regarding the policy of administrative detention, the commission pointed out that (54.000) administrative detention orders have been issued since June 1967.
(226) detainees have been martyred since June 1967, including (73) died due to torture, (71) due to medical ignorance, (75) due to deliberate murder and (7) due to shooting them inside the prison.
Moreover, hundreds of detainees died after releasing them due to diseases they got in prison caused by torture, medical ignorance and bad treatment.
The commission confirms that the Israeli occupation authorities depend on detention as a firm policy since occupying the rest of the Palestinian territories in June 1967, where detention became a constant behavior and main part of the Palestinians lives who still suffering from the detention and its consequences.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated today that the Israeli forces subordinate to prisons' service stormed section (7) at Megiddo prison and attacked detainees using tear gas and shot 3 detainees with rubber bullets.
The administration of prison ordered to isolate the representative of Fatah Movement in the prison, the detainee Ezz Al deen Attar, in Megiddo solitary confinement.
The commission confirmed that the fierce attack is a flagrant violation to the rights of detainees, and that the aim of isolation is to make detainees unstable, and to suppress and torture them.

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that the administration of prisons continue ignoring the health situation of the sick detainee Muwafaq Erouq (78 years). He is detained at Ashkelon prison and his health contention deteriorates day by day.
He lost 15 kg due to his health deterioration and ignorance by the occupation authorities, where he suffers from problems in his lungs, hypo tension, permanent fatigue, walk inability and cancer in the liver and intestines.
The Commission stated that the administration of prison still ignoring the demands of the detainee such as providing him special kinds of food that suit his health condition, as he also eat soup, and takes six kinds of medication.
It is worthy to mention that the detainee Erouq is from Yafa Al-Nasrah, detained since 2003 and sentenced to 30 years.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that the Israeli occupation authorities released the Jordanian detainee Abdullah Noah Abu Jaber (44 years old) from Baqaa camp near Amman, after serving more than 20 years in Israeli prisons, and handed him over to the Jordanian authorities.
It is worthy to mention that the Israeli authorities have arrested him under the pretext of resistance during Al-Aqsa Uprising in 2000, and he has been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment.
Returning the Jordanian detainee Abdulalh Abu Jaber to Negev Prison, noting that he was supposed to be released yesterday after serving 21 years in prison, under the pretext that the documents of handing him over to Jordan are incomplete, and this process may take several days.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs called on human rights organizations and legal institutions, especially the International Committee of the Red Cross, to force the administration of Megiddo prison to accept the detainees' demands on having clothes and blankets and other daily needs.
The Commission revealed that prisons' administration exploits the coronavirus pandemic to suppress detainees by making their lives more difficult through depriving them of obtaining their necessary stuff which was done by family visits. However, family visits were suspended by the occupation authorities under the pretext of health situations.
The commission stated that the Red Cross shall fulfill its commitments and intervene immediately to allow detainees obtaining their stuff such as clothes and blankets, especially in the light of the current political and medical conditions, which coincides with the fierce attack against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the occupied lands of 48.
