Statement issued by Detainees’ Institutions on the conditions of the detainee Walid Daqqa as an example of hundreds of sick and injured detainees in Israeli prisons,
in the light of the increasing risks on their lives due to torture crimes committed against them November 17, 2023 Detainees’ Institutions stated that the Israeli Prison Service had transferred the detainee Walid Daqqa, 62, who has cancer in the bone marrow, from the clinic of Alramla prison to Jelboa prison, which is the most prison to witness torture and assaults against detainees. Detainees’ Institutions confirmed that these risks and fears on his fate duplicate and increase day by day, especially in the light of preventing lawyers visits to prisons, which makes it very difficult for legal staffs to know the exact health conditions of Daqqa and hundreds of sick detainees. It is worth mentioning that Daqqa, detained since 38 years, is suffering from poor health structure and needs special food that suits his condition. He is currently suffering from starvation, such as many sick detainees in Israeli prisons, where the IPS decreased the quantity of food, which affects him and other detainees directly. In this context, Detainees’ Institutions confirmed that Daqqa and hundreds of sick and injured detainees, who faced the crime of slow killing since decades, are suffering from duplicated restrictions on medical care. It is also worthy to mention that some of sick detainees were subjected to torture and assault, in the light of the mass aggression and the collective punishments carried out against them unprecedentedly since 40 days. Detainees’ Institutions call upon the International Committee of the Red Cross to revise its role and take real steps to visit the detainee Walid Daqqa and all sick detainees in Israeli prisons, to make sure they are taking the appropriate medical treatment before it is too late. Detainees’ Institutions also call upon all the free people around the world, who supported Daqqa and detainees in Israeli prisons , and refused the genocide taking place in Gaza, to continue raising our voices until they attain their freedom and the right of self determination.

The Israeli occupation authorities assassinate the detainee Thaer Abu Asab from Qalqilia in Negev prison November 19, 2023 The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Society Prisoner’s Club announced the assassination of the detainee Thaer Samih Abu Asab, 38, from Qalqilia in Negev prison, where he was detained since 27/5/2005, and sentenced to (25) years, and he is the sixth detainee to be assassinated in prison since the 7th of October. In the light of this crime, the assassination of Abu Asab, we confirm that the Israeli occupation is pursuing deliberate systematic assassination operations against our detainees. - the actions carried out against our detainees by the occupation since October 7 reflects the decision of implementing systematic assassinations through different measures of torture and assault. This is reflected in the testimonies we received from released detainees, which indicate that hundreds of detainees got injured due to torture. - testimonies of released detainees confirmed that Negev prison witnessed the most terrifying attacks and crimes committed against detainees. - we confirm that the 7th of October is not the beginning of the occupation’s crimes , but it is an extension of the occupation’s approach. - the occupation imposed unprecedented isolation against detainees since the October 7, where they prevented lawyers visits. -in the light of the intense crimes implemented by the occupation, all international powers that support the occupation in its genocide in Gaza and the mass aggression against our people, must be held accountable. - we call upon all the free people around the world to continue raising our voices until detainees attain their freedom and the right to self determination.

Additional restrictions and escalations against detainees in Ofer Prison

 November 14, 2023

The Israeli authorities pursued the policy of torture and assault against our detainees since the beginning of the war, represented in isolating detainees, preventing phone calls and preventing family and lawyers visits in order to be able to violate their rights. For example, the Israeli special forces implemented an incursion to detainees rooms in 26/10/2023, and attacked them with intense beat, sound bombs and rubber bullets, leaving them bleeding without any medical assistance.

This attack was carried out under the pretext of bidding farewell to their colleague who was going to be released. In the same context, the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs demonstrated in a report issued today, a series of penalties carried out against detainees:

 1. Prevent phone calls with families
 2. IPS prevents lawyers from visiting detainees since the beginning of the war on Gaza
3. Prevent family visits
 4. Confiscate electric appliances from section 5. Prevent using canteen
6. Confiscate food items from sections
7. Provide insufficient quantity of food
8. Separate minors from elderly detainees
 9. Implement provocative inspections to detainees rooms
10. Turn detainees rooms into cells
 11. The clinic of Alramla prison does not provide any medical services or medicines, and only provides painkillers to detainees each ten days.
