11 thousand Palestinians have been arrested by the Israeli occupation, half of them were arrested after the 7th of October

11.000 detention cases have been recorded in 2023 in the West Bank, including Jerusalem and Gaza Strip before the 7th of October, while these statistics do not include detainees from Gaza Strip who have been detained after the 7th of October.

After the 7th of October, (5500) Palestinians have been arrested, including (355) children and (184) women. Statistics showed that the percentage of detention cases in the last three months of the year constituted half of the total number of detention cases carried out in 2023, where detention cases carried out in Gaza after the 7th of October are not included as detainees’ institutions were not able to obtain accurate data, due to the crime of forcible hide against detainees from Gaza.

The highest percentage of detention cases were on October which witnessed the aggression and genocide in Gaza, with (2070) cases.
The highest percentage of women detention was on October with (66) cases, while the highest percentage of children detention was on April with (146) cases.

With regard to Palestinian cities, the highest percentage of detention cases was in Jerusalem with (3295) cases, followed by Hebron with (1943) cases and then Jenin with (1462) cases.

There are currently (8800) Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including (80) women in Damoun prison, but we are not sure about Gazan women who are detained in other military camps, and there is no accurate information about the number of children detained in Israeli prisons. Moreover, there are (3291) administrative detainees, and (661) detainees who were classified as illegal fighters.

🔴 Latest updates on Detainees’ conditions

🔺The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs demonstrated that detainees are living tragic conditions in Damoun prison

🔺 The Commission published the details of assaulting detainee Jenin Omar, where masked troops broke into her house in 3/12/2023, handcuffed and blindfolded her and then took her to military camps for a while, and she was moved to Ofer prison. When she arrived, they started to attack her and dragged her on the stairs. The interrogated her and then she was moved to Alsharon prison, where she was inspected after being undressed and beaten violently. She was sentenced to 4 months of administrative detention.

🔺With regard to conditions at Damoun prison, they detained the representative in legislative council Khalida Jarrar, hence, the number of women detainees in Israeli prisons rises to 76, including 43 women from gaza, 18 from the West Bank and the rest are from the lands occupied in 1948.

🔺All detained women are confronting complicated circumstances, where the Israeli forces intended to break into their rooms on a daily basis, and confiscate their belongings, as they only have a thin mattress and a cover.

🔺The Commission stated that many detainees at Ofer prison were exposed to poisoning due to spoiled food, where they felt severe pain in the stomach, and vomited directly after eating the served food.

🔺The commission said that the violations and attacks against detainees in Ofer prison are taking an upward, punitive and retaliatory tendency.

🔺Detainees at Ofer prison are subjected to continuous cursing, beat and assault, and they are prevented from discussing the administration.

🔺They are allowed to go to the prison’s yard for 20 minutes, where some sections are allowed every three days. Moreover, new detainees don’t have clothes except for the uniform of the prison, and they are given one shampoo bottle to be used by all detainees in the room.

🔺Sick detainees are deprived of their medication

🔺Detached suffer from the overcrowding in sections and rooms, where many of them sleep on the ground as there are only 6 beds in each room.

🔺Detainees are prevented from drinking mineral water and they are only served with two meals per day.

🔺Detainees are prevented from wearing watches, as isolated detainees do not know the time, and also they are forbidden from making the Adan ( call to prayer).
