🔴 Detainees’ organizations issue a report on the most significant information and data related to detainees in Israeli prisons during 2024

🔴 The bloodiest year in the history of the Captive Movement

Ramallah- detainees organizations (Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, Addameer Association for Human Rights) issued a report summarizing key issues and data regarding the situation of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons during 2024.
This year has been marked as the bloodiest in the history of the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli occupation.

The report includes an extensive analysis of policies, statistics, and the horrific crimes committed by the Israeli occupation during arrest campaigns, particularly in the West Bank, which escalated following the onset of what has been described as a war of extermination.

This is in the light of the ongoing comprehensive aggression against the Palestinian people and the continuous genocide in Gaza for more than 450 days.

The report highlights significant transformations afflicting the conditions of detainees following the war, as part of broader systemic changes imposed by the Israeli prison authorities over recent years. It also documents the widespread crimes witnessed, including severe torture of detainees, enforced disappearances of detainees from Gaza, administrative detentions, and systematic killings of detainees.
Since the start of the war, (54) detainees and prisoners have been killed, whose identities are confirmed. Among them, (35) martyrs were from Gaza. In total, (43) detainees were killed in 2024.

The report is based on daily field monitoring of arrests, reports from legal teams within the organizations, and numerous testimonies documented throughout the year.

Attached is Statistical data on detention campaigns and numbers of Palestinian detainees since the onset of the genocide until the end of 2024.

Minor Detainees held in Megiddo prison are victims to jailers’ hatred

December 8, 2024

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs stated that minor detainees held in Megiddo prison are victims to the jailers’ hatred and racism, who deal with those children in a brutal manner.

The Commission pointed out that the administration of Megiddo prison exploits their young age and feeble physical structure to intimidate them by storming their rooms, and beating them severely. The mistreatment is politicized and aims at affecting their psychological and mental health.

The commission’s lawyer recounted a minor detainee who had been transferred from Megiddo prison to Damoun prison, stating that the health and living conditions of children detainees are tragic, as there are special forces who exist constantly in front of their section, and commit crimes and assaults against those children.
It is worth mentioning that the total number of minor detainees in Israeli prisons stands at 280.

Escalated retaliatory and aggressive policies against Palestinian women held in Damoun prison

December 8, 2024

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs warned of the escalated retaliatory and aggressive policies practiced against Palestinian women held in Damoun prison, besides the inhumane and unethical treatment pursued by jailers, who try to harm them on a physical and psychological level.

The Commission emphasized that the visitations managed by the commission’s legal team to Damoun prison documented the intensity of the crimes committed against women, as they focused on psychological abuse represented in threats of rape, strip searches, curses, beating and starvation.
Moreover, they are deprived of clothes, covers, sanitizers ,feminine hygiene products, ignoring their health conditions and procrastinating in providing medicine.
The commission pointed out that the collective punishment is implemented persistently, as detainees are periodically banned from having a shower and prevented from getting out to the prison’s yard.
Any inquiry by detainees may lead to an incursion, abuse and torture.

The commission called on feminine rights organizations, associations and local and international to collaborate to expose the constant violations practiced against Palestinians women detainees to form a public opinion that help in ending their suffering.
