Qaraqe': the cause of Palestine and the freedom of Palestinian detainees is the central issue for the people of South Africa and its organizations

The chairman of the Commission of Detainees Affairs, Issa Qaraqe', who proceeds with his staff to meet parties and institutions in South Africa, that the cause of Palestine and the freedom of Palestinian detainees is deemed to be one of the central issues for the South African people and their government. This came through the continuous solidarity activities for detainees and the rights of Palestinians.
The people of South Africa paid tribute and appreciation for detainees in Israeli jails for their steadfastness in confronting the unjust occupation.
There are activities and events to form groups from various civil society institutions, which focus on the Palestinian cause. Moreover, there is a broad movement of solidarity with administrative detainees who is boycotting the courts of administrative detention, under the guise of "either fair trials or releasing the detainees".
Qaraqe' stated that 27/4/2018 is the Day of Freedom in South Africa, and it will be devoted to carry out supportive activities to the cause of Palestine and Palestinian detainees. There is a huge mobilization that includes all categories of the South African society to support the Palestinian cause; especially that South Africa will be a member at the Security Council which forms political means to defend the Palestinian cause and the just rights of Palestinian people.
The released detainee and the comrade of Mandela, Ibrahim Ibrahim, who spent 20 years in the jails of Apartheid, said during his meeting with the Palestinian delegation: "our struggle and solidarity with Palestinian detainees is to free ourselves and express our humanity which is a policy for the African National Congress, and our suffer in jails makes us more capable and aware of the eagerness of the Palestinian people for freedom and ending the occupation".
He expressed his love and support for detainees in Israeli jails, stressing on the continuous work in spreading awareness on this important cause through various activities at all levels.
