Detainees’ organizations and the Captive Movement in Israeli prisons mourn the the national fighter and former detainee , Major General Fouad Al-Shobaki

Detainees’ organizations, the Captive Movement in Israeli prisons and former detainees in homeland and diaspora mourn the national fighter and former detainees, Major General Fouad Al Shobaki, who passed away this evening at the age of 84.

Detainees’ organizations stated that we are mourning a national fighter and a former detainee who served 17 years in Israeli prisons, and was the oldest one among other detainees and was called the “sheikh of detainees”.

About of the Late Major General Fouad Al-Shobaki's Life

. Fouad Hijazi Mohammad Shobaki: was born on March 12, 1940 in Gaza Strip. He had the BA in Accounting from Cairo University.

. He was a Palestinian politician and military figure, and a member of Fatah movement. He was the head of the central militant financial administration in the Palestinian security apparatus. He joined Fatah movement and relocated to Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia.

On January 3, 2002, the Israeli occupation army implemented a military operation called “Noah’s Ark” to stop and control the ship Karin A in the Red Sea, claiming that the ship carried military supplies for Palestinians. They charged him with this incident being the mastermind of funding and smuggling of the arms ship.

. The Israeli occupation forces abducted him in 14/3/2006 from Jericho prison, with the Secretary-General of the Popular Front, Ahmed Sa’adat, and their companions, Ahed Abu Ghoulmi, Hamdi Qar’an, Basel Al-Asmar, Majdi Al-Rimawi, and Yasser Abu Turki.

. The military court of the occupation sentenced him to (20) years, and reduced later to (17) years.

. His wife passed away in 2011, and he was deprived of bidding farewell.

. He was released on march 2023, and he was suffering from chronic diseases during his detention, and he was relying on his companions for assistance.
