The detainee Zakaria Zubaidi confronts the isolation conditions with strong determination

on . Posted in slider

The detainee Zakaria Zubaidi is confronting the harsh conditions of solitary confinement with strong determination,  where he has been detained since more than a year,  without any real solutions to end this isolation.

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that the prison service holds the detainee Zubaidi in the isolation of Ashkelon prison in difficult conditions,  where he got transferred earlier to ( Ishel,  Remonim, Ayalon and Ramon) prisons.

The Israeli authorities intended to renew the order of solitary confinement against Zubaidi, as a punitive procedure against detainees who escaped from Jelboa prison. It is supposed to end his isolation by next March.

The Commission stated  that the administration of Ashkelon prison inspect Zubaidi's cell randomly in order to suppress him and increase his suffering.
Zubaidi has been rearrested with his colleague Mohammed Arda after escaping from Jelboa prison in September 11 last year, and he was sentenced to 5 years and a fine of 5000 NIS.

The detainee Zakaria Zubaidi, 45, from Jenin camp is a symbol of the second Intifada, where he participated in various military operations against the occupation, and all his siblings experienced detention and his mother and one of his siblings have been martyred during the incursion to Jenin camp in 2002.
It is worthy to mention that this is the fifth detention for Zubaidi, where he was arrested for the first time when he was a child in the first Intifada.  He's married and a father of 3 children, and he as a general director at the Commission of Detainees' Affairs.
