Administrative detainees are preparing for a hunger strike in coincidence with the Palestinian Prisoner's Day on April 17

, which was recognized as a day of struggle for Palestinians in 1974 to support the freedom fighters.

Administrative detainees in the Israeli jails started to boycott the Israeli courts on 15 February 2018, protesting against the arbitrary administrative detention. There are 450 administrative detainees in Israeli jails, where the sentence of administrative detention could be renewed or extended. There are also indictments and renewal of administrative detentions after the term of detention was completed.

International and national human rights organizations are under great pressure due to the violations of human rights around the world, nonetheless this does not form a pretext for not giving a proper attention to the cause of Palestinian administrative detainees, especially that the Israeli administrative detention system constitutes a clear violation of international law.

We call upon you to support us until the arbitrary administrative detention ends and all detainees be freed.

We quote one of the committee members from Ofer prison, Bassam Abu Aker, "we'll not remain hostages by the Israeli intelligence. We have been kidnapped by the occupation for more than 10 years. Some of us have spent more than 15 years in jail under the administrative detention, under the pretext that our case constitute a “confidential file”. Therefore, we will face this policy even with our empty stomachs. We will live free".

Thanks for your support
